In June of 2009, Bruce Carey hired the charming and talented Chad Church to head the kitchen and direct the 23Hoyt menu toward a modern gastro-pub concept. Chad is originally from Pennsylvania where we he was sous chef at the celebrated FORK Restaurant in Philadelphia. He has great leadership experience in some of Portland best kitchens such as Castagna, Holden's, Vigne, Oba and Harrison. His talents support Bruce's wish to move the menu at 23Hoyt into a smart but accessible, affordable and familiar realm. "A New American Tavern" is how they describe this philosophy for the two year old restaurant which combines bar menu favorites, like grilled burgers and fish & chips with comforting Pacific Northwest classics such as grilled wild salmon, and a double cut pork chop with a sweet corn and chanterelle succotash.

Bruce comments: "I met Chad years ago at his wine bar in the Pearl district and was immediately struck with his ability to simultaneously provide warmth, comfort and sophistication - a rare and very Portland-like characteristic. His delicious food is crave-able and always includes a wow-factor."

The comfortable cafe, bar and dining room features several seating areas including extensive outdoor cafe tables on bustling NW 23rd Avenue, in Nob Hill, the best boutique shopping neighborhood in the city.

Easy parking is always available in the pay lot located directly behind the restaurant.
